Welcoming our new Interns

Dear Kundiman Community,

We are pleased to announce our three new staff interns: Hayden Takahashi will serve as Communications Intern, Madeleine Jennings will serve as Development Intern, and Kathryn Estavillo will serve as Programming Intern.

Hayden Takahashi is currently pursuing a degree in English at Sierra Nevada College, and has an interest in Poetry and Creative Non-Fiction. She was the Assistant Editor of the Sierra Nevada Review, and the 2017 recipient of SNC's Outstanding Service to the English Program Award and the Sierra Nevada Review Editor Award. As a Native Hawaiian and Japanese American, Hayden embraces the opportunity to explore, understand, and preserve any cultural experiences cultivated by writing. Madeleine Jennings is a rising junior at McGill University, where she majors in Urban Systems and International Development. She began doing nonprofit development work as an intern with the Asian American Writers' Workshop. In the year since, she has become attuned to the diverse needs of various arts and community-based organizations. She is passionate about Asian diasporic art and writing, and she wishes to hone her development skills in order to help Asian American artists receive deserved funding and recognition. Kathryn Estavillo is an aspiring event coordinator and social media marketer. Born and raised in Yonkers, she holds a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from Stony Brook University. Her past experience includes internships and staff positions at the Pilipino Unity for Progress (UnirPro), Inc., the Asian American Arts Alliance, and, most recently, the Jewish Museum.
