Kundiman is Hiring!

Kundiman is in search of a Communications Manager or Director, who will be responsible for the creation and management of external communications, including social media, newsletters, graphics, and website communications. Title will be commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate will have at least two to three years’ experience in communications, with nonprofit and arts organizations experience a plus. They will be responsible, detail-oriented, and creative, with a clear and compelling vision for how to communicate our mission and values clearly to our audiences, while being true to our organizational voice. This includes creating graphics, executing social media, managing our website, and garnering earned press. They should be knowledgeable and up-to-date on social media platforms and communications strategies. They will have excellent writing skills and be able to create copy across departments, from programs to development to operations. Kundiman is a remote office with a small staff so it’s vital to be able to work independently and reliably meet deadlines, while being able to be communicative and work well with the other departments. They will manage communications staff who assist with graphics, social media, and other tasks.

Title: Communications Manager or Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary Range: $50,000–$60,000

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and executes the communications strategy across platforms, including social media, e-blasts, and earned press

  • Manages the ideation and creation of graphics for programs and campaigns

  • Drafts copy for programs, development, and/or operations as needed

  • Updates Kundiman website and creates recaps and announcements of upcoming Kundiman events

  • Hires, trains, and manages Communications Staff

  • Assists with the production of other Kundiman events, including serving as day-of staff for annual benefit gala and donor cultivation events.

  • Other tasks as needed.

Key requirements:

  • At least two to three years of experience in arts programming and communications. Nonprofit experience a plus.

  • Exceptional writing ability, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, to be a self-starter, and manage multiple concurrent projects.

  • Photoshop experience required. Squarespace and Mailchimp experience a plus.

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.

  • Knowledgeable about social media and various strategies for disseminating information about our programs, fundraising, and organization.

  • Commitment to the arts, social justice, and Asian American community.

  • Must live within commuting distance of the New York City metropolitan area.
